In the coming year, FoCS will focus on topping-up or replacing home reading books. The estimated cost will be approximately £6000.
In addition, FoCS will continue to fund a variety of smaller initiatives, such as the pantomime company who will perform to the children at Christmas, an external dance teacher, fruit and water for sports day, a contribution towards Year 6’s leaving celebrations and a tea and biscuit fund for the staff room.
For the last few academic years, FOCS have had a main focus project for our fundraising efforts. In 2017-18 we aimed to raise £15K, mainly to buy 15 new computers for the school’s ICT suite. This will mean that the suite will have 30 computers so each child will have their own computer to use during lessons in the suite.
In addition, FOCS have funded a variety of smaller initiatives this year such as the pantomime company that came in to perform to the children at Christmas, resources for the sensory room, an external dance teacher, fruit and water for sports day, a contribution towards Year 6’s leaving celebrations and a tea and biscuit fund for the staff room.
FOCS’ main focus for the 2016-2017 year was to refurbish the Year 2 playground and to update the sports markings in the junior playground. In addition to our usual fundraising efforts, we were successful in gaining fund from Aviva and Tesco.
Other projects – big and small – that we have funded over the years include:
The Timber Trail in the junior playground, the Secret Garden and benches, converting the old school kitchen conversion for use by pupils, kitchen utensils and equipment, main school library refurbishment and purchasing books, Phonic Bug Club membership, sponsorship of a Snow Leopard, water fountains, the school piano, ukuleles, story sacks, 18 digital flip cameras, a laptop trolley and 16 laptops, the Chill Out Zone, 20 tents, storage containers, the school stage, gazebos, a PA system, ice skating trips, a circus skills workshop, a visit from Chicken Shed theatre company, an anti-bullying workshop, the mosaics you see around the playground, friendship benches and picnic tables, PE photo canvases, a toy library for nursery, artificial grass for nursery, a badge maker, school toilets refurb, Broomfield Academy to come in and run football sessions, hurdles, goals, netball posts, netball kits and miscellaneous sports equipment.
We couldn’t have done this without your support – these resources and experiences have enriched the children’s experience at Chase Side. THANK YOU!
